I find occasionally that my Clipboard Fusion system tray icon disappears, or does not appear in the first place. The only solution I have found is to use the Windows Task Manager to end the ClipboardFusion.exe process and then restart Clipboard Fusion.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem. I'm running Windows 7 Pro. I'm running CF version 2.1.

@Allan: Is it happening when ClipboardFusion starts up? Or does it just seem to happen randomly while using your computer?

I am having this issue as well with v3.0.4. For me it's fairly consistent when I put my laptop into sleep mode at the end of the day. The next morning when I login the system tray icon is gone but ClipboardFusion.exe (CF) is still running. I even continue to get normal CF notifications and popups (images). The only way I have found to resolve this is to stop/start the app. When I restart I lose Clipboard History (right-click system tray menu) after the restart. Perhaps there is a config setting to retain history during a restart of the app?

I hope this gives you some information to go on. I have also attached the troubleshooting information from CF.

I've been trying to reproduce this issue here but haven't had any luck. Does it only happen when coming out of Standby, or are there other scenarios that seem to cause the tray icon to disappear?

This has occurred with me as well.

I'm not certain as to the what my situation is. I do know that my computer has been up for approximately 1 day and 20 hours, so I rebooted fairly recently. It also does come up from sleep.

I've included screenshots to show you that it's missing from the taskbar and that it's running. It also includes my notification settings where I've set ClipboardFusion to always show the icon and all notifications.

Lastly, I've included the information from the troubleshooting tab in the ClipboardFusion settings screen. However i was only able to get to that after killing the process and restarting it.

Thanks wooster! We're still stumped on this one, as we can't reproduce it, and we're not quite sure what else to check on your systems. Everything in the Troubleshooting info looks totally fine. We'll keep you guys posted as soon as we have some more ideas.

Thanks!

We've just released a new ClipboardFusion version (http://www.clipboardfusion.com/Download) and this issue should hopefully be all fixed up. Please let us know if you run into any trouble after updating.

Thanks!

I have used 3.0.5 since 5/5/2014 and, for me, the issue has been resolved. I put my laptop into sleep mode every day last week and the systray icon came back each time.

Thanks

I hate to revive an old thread, but this issue is happening to me ClipboardFusion 3.3.1 on Windows 7 x64. Screenshot attached as proof.

Edit: This is shortly after bootup. I didn't notice if it was gone immediately upon bootup, but I do know that CF will occasionally disappear from the tray during the day as I'm working. As in, I go to use it and discover it's gone.

Strange! I've never been able to reproduce this issue here, not sure why it would be happening :(

I'm wondering if it has something to do with Windows' tray icon cache. Could you try resetting it by doing the following in regedit?
  • Navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify key
  • Delete or rename the "IconsStream" and "PastIconsStream" values
  • Logout and log back in
