Hi Jon,

I really like your ClipboardFusion app. However, it seems to have a problem scrubbing text copied from an Excel spreadsheet cell. It often wants to add an extra set of double quotes around a body of text and/or add extra double quotes to existing double quotes in a string. This is when I single click on a cell, then copy it. If I double click on the cell and drag-n-copy the text, it works okay. I can email you a sample spreadsheet offline that I have the most trouble with, if you'd like.

You know, it would be really nice to have a user-configurable hot-key that would allow the user to enable/disable the Clipboard scrubbing feature....

Thanks!

Ah, nope. I've got version 1.5 and I'm still getting double sets of double quotes when scrubbing formatted text from an Excel spreadsheet.

For example, the following text in a Excel spreadsheet cell:

Now is the time for all "good" men to come to the aid of their country.

After scrubbing, shows up like this:

Now is the time for all ""good"" men to come to the aid of their country.

Which scrubbing options are you using, and do you have anything entered on the "Text Replace" tab?

Well, I did some experimentation. If I close CF completely, and cut and paste formatted text from a cell into Eudora, it comes out fine. No double quotes, no color, just the text.

If I enable CF, and select "Scrub Clipboard text automatically", "Show message", "Scrub HTML", and just cut and paste formatted text from Excel into Eudora, the text looks fine - No double quotes, no color, just the text.

But, if I enable a Hot Key (Control 4) to Scrub Text and copy text from Excel, Hit the Hot Key, and then paste into Eudora, I end up with double quotes.

Interestingly, I get the same behavior with the Hot Key even when I have added Excel to the "Igonore Programs" tab in the CF options.

Do you get the double-quotes when pasting into any other applications, or just Eudora? I have been testing this and I can't seem to reproduce the problem. :(

As for the ignored programs option, that really only applies to auto-scrubbing. If you use the HotKey to scrub the text you are forcing ClipboardFusion to scrub the text regardless of which application put the text there.
