Kheith, may it will be fine to make the appearence of this box optional in 5.0 version and you'll sutisfy all user choices with such easy to implement feature. May be it will be also fine to divide the visabitity of the main history list and pinned + recent (2-nd level) menu search inputs via different settings checkboxes.
