We're very excited to announce that ClipboardFusion 5.5 is now available for download! We've fixed a few bugs, improved the way our servers talk to ClipboardFusion, and added a new Macro function for a listview box with filtering capabilities!

ClipboardFusion 5.5 Highlights

  • Change: Push syncing improvements
  • Change: New Macro function to open a listview window with filter (BFS.Dialog.GetUserInputListViewWithFilter)
  • Fix: UI no longer hangs during a sync
  • Fix: Settings restore now restores and binds the hotkeys correctly
  • Fix: General fixes and improvements

Updating ClipboardFusion

We encourage everyone to update to the new version today to take advantage of these improvements. If you would like to see a complete list of all the changes, please view the ClipboardFusion Change Log. We would also like to thank all of the translators who have helped translate ClipboardFusion to their native languages.

I just upgraded to 5.5 and now it seems every time I copy the app just crashes. I use Excel quite a bit and this is where it seems to crash the most.

I'm not able to reproduce that here. Do you have any Trigger rules setup on the Settings > Triggers tab? If so, could you send me screenshots of the edit windows for each rule?

If you guys set the Trigger Command to disabled and apply the settings, does it stop crashing?

It did not crash when I disabled the trigger. Of course, it didn't do anything to the clipboard contents either.

Thanks! We're seeing similar behaviour when copying from OneNote here and we're working on a fix for it. What app are you copying from when this crash occurs?

Excel.
Blame Microsoft. :)

Haha, indeed! I can't reproduce it with Excel for some reason. Are you copying just text from the cells, or cells with formulas, or charts?

Ah yep, I repro'd it with Excel by scrubbing a cell with a formula in it as well

One more question. If you have the Trigger enabled, restart ClipboardFusion, open the Settings and just click Apply/OK, then try it, does it still crash?

That seems to have stopped the crashing.

Ok, thanks for confirming! It should be fine until the next CF restart at least then :)

We're actively working on this issue (it's a weird one!) and will post 5.5.1 as soon as it's all sorted out.

Thanks!

I tried the restart-settings-apply-ok workaround and it worked for a while, but eventually it crashed again. I can relaunch and reapply the workaround and it'll work again for a while but eventually it'll crash again. Hope to see the update soon! Thanks!

We were able to get it fixed up internally late last night, and we'll release 5.5.1 soon. Thanks for your help tracking this down!

Just put 5.5.1 on my system that was experiencing the issue and it appears to be resolved. Darn fine work! Thank you.
